Is Today the Day?

From the day we are born, our lives move us toward what will be an inevitable ending. It’s part of the circle of life. We are born, we die, but everything in between is where life truly happens. Each day we are given is a blessing to be celebrated. The most extraordinary thing is that our lives can be forever changed in the blink of an eye, by a single event or a single step.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24

Our lives move in ebbs and flows, much like our breathing. Some movement occurs as a result of outside forces beyond our control. For the most part, however, our choices are what ultimately determine the direction our lives will take.

Is today the day? The day you finally take the first step toward making those life changes required to make your goals and dreams a reality? Is this day one, or just another day in the life? The choice is yours and yours alone. You decide.

Will this be a day of rejoicing, or a day to just push through to the finish line? Better still, is this ‘THE DAY’ that you decide to make something extraordinary happen and take the first step to …

  • Let go of the past hurt and start to heal?
  • Tell someone you care about how much you love them?
  • Start that new business you’ve always wanted?
  • Make an offer on your future home?
  • Begin planning for a new addition to the family?
  • Renew wedding vows with the love of your life?
  • Join a church and affirm your faith?
  • Purchase tickets for that dream vacation?
  • Start a diet and exercise program, and stick with it?
  • Trade in your old car for a new one?
  • Extend the hand of friendship to someone in need?
  • Become the best version of you?

Will today be the day that brings you closer to fulfilling your goals and dreams? Start to work on those bucket list items – today, don’t put it off! Because life changes with each step that we take.

How many steps are left until you reach your destination?

An interesting question, huh? Before we can answer the question, we first need to know where we’re going. Next, the distance we must travel. Finally, how many steps it will take to complete the journey.

FUN FACT: If you walk 10K steps a day (roughly 4.25 miles), you will travel 1,500+ miles in a year. Think of how much you’ll experience and how much your life will change along the way in taking this journey. Taking that first step.

How long will it take to reach your destination?

Now, what if reaching your destination is not about the distance you travel, but about the time it takes to get there? In other words, is the planning horizon for reaching your goals short-term or long-term?

FUN FACT: The human body is constantly replenishing itself at a cellular level. In fact, most of your body is replaced every 7-15 years. So, if I’m a totally “new” person in 7-15 years, will the goals that I set for myself today still be relevant?

OK, enough of the brain teasers. Making the life changes that will enable you to reach your goals boils down to two things – commitment and taking action. If it’s important to you, then get started by making today day one.

Take the next step, it’s your choice!
